First Apple iPhone Commercial: Hello?

The marketing folks at Apple have managed to sneak in this quick iPhone commercial during this year's Oscars. The 30-second spot apparently cost Apple around $1.7 million bucks. Yep, that's a lot of money for an ad that just says "hello". Will the iPhone catch on when it comes out in June? What are your thoughts on this?

  • The new iPhone looks like an amazing piece of new technology, but I do not think it will catch on.

    1- it is too expensive
2- If you ever drop it by accident, you'll cry for sure.
    3- no keyboard
4- no integration with business collaboration products

    Am I missing anything?

  • I agree with what Robert is saying. Plus the fact that you have to use Cingular, or Rogers here in Canada, kinda sucks. Having said that I sure would like to have one!

B.T.W. $1.7 million seems pretty frickin' steep to me. But I guess they had to pay to use all those copyrighted clips. But hell, it's Apple they can afford to be extravagant! I just wish I could!! :s

  • The commercial is a little weak but the phone is expected to change the technological world. Yes it is true that it is ahead of its time but the price is going to slow sales. Phone companies are trying to explain to iPhone that they need to bring down the prices if they want to sell their phones in the cell phone market.

We shall see what happens in June.

  • As much as i'd like to have one, i'll have to wait for my current contract to end, and then think about the iphone really long, read reviews and all.. but seriously it looks really promising. Prob is, from whaat i've heard, in canada with Roger, you'll have to get a data plan, and it's not cheap here. We'll see :)
