UC Santa Cruz to offer video game major
It seems like video games are starting to really get some academic respect. Case in point: UC Santa Cruz has revealed that it will offer a major in video game development starting this fall.
The major itself will result with a bachelor's degree in computer science, but will also focus on teaching students the technical, artistic, and narrative development processes to students of the program.
This is a pretty significant event, since this is the first time such a program has been launched in the UC schools (which are highly regarded public universities in California) and could very easily lead to similar academic
developments in other UC schools around the state.
