Paris Homes Test VERY High-Speed Broadband
Think your $15 per month 748Kbps high-speed Internet access represents good value for your money?? Yeah, I also used to think so, but now that I've read this, I'm not so sure anymore.
For €70 ($88) a month, customers participating in the fiber trial get Internet access, digital television broadcasts, and unlimited telephone calls over an optical connection with a theoretical maximum data rate of 2.5Gbps downstream, and 1.2Gbps upstream. The price includes installation and activation of equipment at the customers' homes, and the first two months' access are free.
Yes, you read that right: Phone, Television and a 2.5Gbps broadband connection for $88 per month. Sigh. I'm now officially depressed.

Yeah, it's strange how europe is always ahead of use when it comes to communication technologies. Shouldn't it be the other way around? :)

Yeah, but wouldn't you have to be French? Maybe that's why they can offer it.
I'm just saying....

Obviously, since they offer it in Paris, but I don't see how being french would change anything if the technology would be offerend everywhere. lol

LoL, once again the French have an advantage.
It is pathetic, I agree with Sterling. I mean, for heaven's sake, VIOP was available everywhere long before it was available here.
Why are we always behind? I'm moving to Europe, damn it.

That is pretty depressing. This is an amazing deal for those people. I'd like to just have it for one day, to use as a comparison to what I have.

Just remember, what server is going to give you data at that speed? Unless its in your neighbood, of course!

If you notice, while the price is increasing six times ($15 to $90), the speed is increasing only 3.5 times (748 kbps to 2.5gbps). I guess people will have to work around their preferences.

abeer: we're talking about 3 services here, not just one.
and it's 2.5 GBbps not Mbps.. so we're increasing the speed MUCH more then 3.5 timess..
More like 35 times :)
