Adware Spreads Through Myspace

Just imagine this - you browse around myspace looking for pictures of scantily clad women and end up on a page that contains a funny looking video. You click on the play button to get the show started, and then, a DRM acquisition box pops in your face asking if you want to watch the movie. What do you do, press play or cancel? Being an intelligent person, you know that there's something suspicious behind this request, so you press cancel right away. If you would be a common myspace user, chances are you would press the play button without reading the attached license agreement, effectively installing a new friend called Zango in your system.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone found a network of websites apparently designed to do nothing else but spread Adware around Myspace? Not only that, but get the innocent end-users themselves to do the job of pushing that Adware for the guy making all the money, without informing them of the Adware's presence in the first place?

  • Not really, considering that most MySpace users have an approximate IQ of 3, considerably less then a vegetable.

  • brian: haha, good one, I like it.

Comparing myspace users with vegetables isn't really fair for the vegetables.
