Q it up!

Motorola has finally rolled out the long awaited "blackberry killer," the Motorola Q. I've been waiting with a bit of anticipation wondering if this will finally be the killer phone I've been waiting for. I have never been able to adapt to the Blackberry, so have had to settle for a Starcomm, but this indeed looks promising.

Check out this first look movie from ZDNet, and I think you'll be impressed. I have yet to see if it can do voice dialing over a bluetooth headset (Without touching the phone), that would probably push me over the edge.

Check it out!

  • I have a Blackberry, and I hate it.. If this device has has a compatibility mode that enables it to be compatible with the blackberry protocol, I'd be tempted to switch over to this model immediately, even if I have to pay for it myself.

  • Personal experience with Motorola says: If Motorola makes it - you can best believe it is of inferrior quality - and there will be a 2nd version that releases (version b) that will have most of the bugs that version A had worked out. Also note - this is not something that is 'all new' and 'unique' to the market. There are better alternatives: The T-Mobile MDA, for example, slower processor BUT it has a touch screen (the Q doesn't) uses GRPS and EDGE technology (Q?!?!?) uses WIFI when available - does Bluetooth protocols (supports almost all except Stereoheadset and Bluetooth Networking). has a built-in slide-back keyboard - and DOES support voice dialing via bluetooth headset; also note that the slower processor allows for longer battery life - Google to find out about common problems with smartphones and/or other PDA type phones and you'll see that Q might mean Quit that idea all-together . . . .

  • Yes, you can voice-dial through a BT headset with the Q. I can do it with my RAZR, too.

Hey, every new device has bugs that are fixed in later releases. Mine works fine and I'll just update the software and get the latest and greatest when it comes out.

I can't believe I'm reading someone talking about how great a slower processor is. Give me a break. I'm one of those crazy people who LIKE to watch my Slingbox on my Q without constant freezing and stutter.

  • Watching your slingbox through your Q? That's awesome!
