Site Advisor: Your companion to security on the web

As you probably already know, surfing the internet is getting more and more dangerous for everyone, even the power users. Most computer enthusiasts know how to protect themselves on the information highway, but what can Mr. and Mrs. everybody do to stay safe? It's been estimated that the number of phishing web sites rose 55 percent from November to December in 2005. No, the answer is not to stop surfing the web, but to know what tools you can equip yourself with to do it safely.

SiteAdvisor is one of those applications that can help you stay away from dangerous grounds. It offers safety ratings on all sites you visit and displays warnings directly in the results of your search engine queries.

For example: If I search Google for "anti-spyware", SiteAdvisor will place a red, yellow or green icon beside each link, letting me know which site is safe to visit and which is not.

SiteAdvisor is completely free and can be installed as an Internet Explorer toolbar or a Firefox extension.

Check it out, you will not regret it!
